Constantly growing, the Aveiro Walkways (Passadiços de Aveiro) started with being about 7km of trail (for each side), passing through the city center, Esgueira and Cacia, but have been increased to Albergaria-A-Velha and Estarreja, totaling more than 20km of total extension for each side.

Despite starting in the city center, the best place to start them, which was also where we chose to do it, is at the "Cais da Ribeira de Esgueira", where they have a parking space and, at the same time, makes you avoid the part of the route that passes through the city, seeing only the nature part.

In addition to the constant landscape over the Ria de Aveiro, and the flora found along the entire route, the Aveiro Walkways are also known for their fauna, namely the different species of birds that inhabit here.

As you walk along the walkway you will notice that many people in the region use it to exercise, whether by walking, cycling or even running.

In addition to the footbridge parts, the route also has a few moments on clay road, many of them next to the water, and others along the middle of trees, emerging secondary paths that connect to localities, as is the example of Mataduços.

Although it is still a long route, totaling a 15km (both ways), the Passadiços de Aveiro are a route that is easily done, due to its beautiful landscape and constant shadows. Despite the shadows, we recommend that you avoid very hot days, as there are also moments completely uncovered.

The Passadiços de Aveiro are, therefore, a mandatory tour for those visiting the city of Aveiro, the Portuguese Venice.
