Built in the heart of Miramar Beach, the Lord of the Stone Chapel is often referred to as the only chapel built with its back to the sea.
Built in the 17th century, inscriptions at the door say that a pagan place of worship could have existed there.
Surrounded by myths, it is said that when it was intended to choose the site to build the chapel in the region, the rock where it stands today was chosen due to the appearance of an unusual light, which marked the site.
According to what is said in the region, the chapel, although Christian, is still the stage for pagan ceremonies held in secret during the night.
Also at the back of the chapel, it is said that a bull's feet are marked, but we were unable to identify the location.
One day, in the afternoon, we decided to visit the chapel and we were greeted with a beautiful sunset, providing one of the best views possible.
The chapel has a place with free access around it, offering an incredible view to the sea. However, and if you plan to visit the chapel inside, try to find out about the hours of worship, since, when we visited it, it was already closed.
Although it is not a very large chapel, nor does it stand out for its construction, the truth is that it is impossible to remain indifferent to the Chapel Planted by the Sea, capable of attracting the attention of whoever passes there.
We recommend visiting the chapel at sunset, to witness a magical moment of union between the hand of man of the best that nature can offer.
