Miniature Village of Pedro Lemos

The Miniature Village of Pedro Lemos, as it is known, is the recreation of a miniature village, all made by its builder, who also gives it its name: Pedro Lemos.

Located in Celorico de Basto, in the small town of Agilde, its builder built more than fifty buildings. Many of them are recreations (in miniature) of imposing and grandiose buildings as well as houses.

Entrance to the village is free and can be done at any time

Access to this “open-air museum” is free and can be done at any time, as it is not closed access. At the time of our visit (August 2020), this attraction was packed with visitors.

With roads between the different buildings, we find houses that are completely different from each other. They come in all shapes and sizes, older and more modern, with several floors or flat houses, with or without balconies, with or without granaries, and even pillories are found in the streets.

Among the largest buildings, the Church and Convent of São Gonçalo, the Hospital of Fafe and the Castle of Arnóia stand out. Additionally, the small village has several churches and even a cemetery.

Getting to Miniature Village is really simple. In addition to already appearing identified on Google Maps (coordinates: 41.355205, -8.121635), there are some identifying plates closer to the location.

However, parking and reaching the village is not so easy. Despite being located on Rua do Sardoal, the best place to park is on the perpendicular street, Outeiro Street, where the sides of the road allow parking.

From here, you will have to follow a secondary street, where there is a plaque identifying the village. After a few meters the street will fork into two streets, the easiest and most direct path being the one on the right. As it goes up, the street becomes, after a moment, dirt, with the village appearing on the left.

Despite the less appealing access, the Miniature Village of Pedro Lemos is without a doubt a mandatory stop for anyone visiting the region, being an incredible work of one man who, in recent decades, has fueled his passion in his spare time.
